Collection Surfer
A coverflow-style collection browser: a horizontal row of cards where the centered card is enlarged and front-facing while neighbours recede and rotate in 3D. Navigable by click, arrow keys and drag.
Preview
<x-ui.collection-surfer class="w-full max-w-2xl" />
Installation
php artisan ui:add collection-surfer
Note
This component ships an Alpine behavior module at
resources/js/ui/collection-surfer.js. Import it once from your bundle so it registers on alpine:init:
import './collection-surfer.js';
Registry contract
php artisan ui:add collection-surfer
writes only the files below. The CLI validates each file hash before writing and asks before it replaces a local change, unless you pass --force.

# Brok UI: Collection Surfer (`collection-surfer`)
A coverflow-style collection browser: a horizontal row of cards where the centered card is enlarged and front-facing while neighbours recede and rotate in 3D. Navigable by click, arrow keys and drag.
Brok UI is a Laravel Blade component registry. Installed components are plain Blade files the app owns.
## Install
```bash
php artisan ui:add collection-surfer
```
## Usage
```blade
<x-ui.collection-surfer class="w-full max-w-2xl" />
```
## Props
- `items` (array, default `[]`) — Collection entries to browse; each needs a title, with optional subtitle and art gradient classes.
- `perspective` (string, default `1000px`) — CSS perspective value for the 3D stage.
- `active` (int, default `0`) — Index of the initially active card.
## Use when
- Use only when visual expression supports storytelling, brand differentiation, or a clear showcase moment.
- Browsing a horizontal collection (album art, product thumbnails, a media library) where the centred item should read as a physical coverflow with a reflection under the active card.
- Wanting drag-to-scrub navigation where the whole row glides continuously under the finger and snaps to the nearest item on release.
## Avoid when
- Do not place heavy effects in task-dense workflows where clarity, speed, and readability matter more.
- A flatter, simpler carousel without 3D depth or a reflection is enough; use carousel.
## Anti-patterns
- Heavy effects in forms or task-dense workflows
- Motion that interferes with reading or focus
## Rules
- Use the `<brok:collection-surfer>` tag (or `<x-ui.collection-surfer>`) in Blade; do not rewrite the component.
- Prefer the documented props and variants over utility-class overrides; when a utility must win, use the `!` important modifier.
- Use semantic design tokens (`bg-primary`, `text-muted-foreground`), never raw colour utilities.
- Keep the `data-slot` attributes; they are the styling and test hooks.

API
Props
| Prop | Type | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| items | array | [] | Collection entries to browse; each needs a title, with optional subtitle and art gradient classes. |
| perspective | string | 1000px | CSS perspective value for the 3D stage. |
| active | int | 0 | Index of the initially active card. |
Slots
default— Unused; cards are rendered from the items prop.
Data slots
Stable hooks for CSS overrides and browser tests.
Behavior
- Every card sits at the stage centre and is positioned purely by transform from its signed distance to the current, drag-following position, so the row glides continuously and snaps to the nearest card on release.
- Click a card, use the left/right arrow keys (swapped under RTL), Home/End, or drag to change the active item; a faded, flipped reflection renders under the active card.
- Reduced-motion users get a flat row with no depth or rotation, but the same navigation.
- Installs a JavaScript behavior module when the registry item includes resources/js/ui files.
- Declares registry capability flags: a11y, interactive, responsive, rtl, darkMode, localized, reducedMotion.
Guidance
Support brand expression or a showcase moment.
Use when
- Use only when visual expression supports storytelling, brand differentiation, or a clear showcase moment.

- Wanting drag-to-scrub navigation where the whole row glides continuously under the finger and snaps to the nearest item on release.
Avoid when
- Do not place heavy effects in task-dense workflows where clarity, speed, and readability matter more.
- A flatter, simpler carousel without 3D depth or a reflection is enough; use carousel.
Use instead
- Static content-first presentation
Anti-patterns
- Heavy effects in forms or task-dense workflows
- Motion that interferes with reading or focus
- Anatomy
- Theming hooks
Accessibility
- Keyboard
- ArrowLeft ArrowRight Home End
- Focus
managed
- The root is role=listbox with aria-roledescription=coverflow, each card is role=option with aria-selected, and only the active card is in the tab order.
- The prev/next buttons are decorative (aria-hidden, tabindex=-1) since the listbox itself is fully keyboard navigable.
- Semantic HTML and a stable
data-slotattribute for styling and scripting hooks. - Focus-visible rings use the
ringtoken, so keyboard focus is always visible. - Disabled and invalid states are conveyed to assistive tech, not by color alone.
- Targets WCAG 2.2 AA; verify contrast in light, dark, admin and customer surfaces in the preview.
- Labels go through
__()and layout uses logical properties (ms-*,text-start), so it mirrors underdir="rtl"— flip the preview to RTL to confirm. - Dark mode uses the same semantic tokens under the
darkclass; high contrast follows forced-color system tokens.

Add a stable wire:key when Livewire can reorder this interactive component.

Validation
Validation support: native. Keep the error message connected with aria-describedby.
